{52 things before 25}

{audiobooks}

link

hello lovely friendlikins!

how are we this drizzly day? i'm enjoying the cool break from the toasty hot like an oven heat! if you've been following along with my 52 things before 25 goals, you may know that to read a book a month is on my list before i turn 25 this december. to be honest, i haven't done too much reading, but i have done a WHOLE lot of listening! tommy + i have listened to many audiobooks this year, most nights, instead of watching tv or a dvd we'll listen to the next part of our story. it's been lovely to listen as i craft and tommy draws. have you listened to audiobooks before? if you haven't, i think you should give it a go, it's GREAT!

here's what we've listened to so far:

we started the year with the inheritance cycle series by christopher paolini.

1. eragon

2. eldest

3. brisingr

4. inheritance

they're full of dragons, adventures, dwarfs, troll like creatures, elves, magic, love, loss, courage + fun times! i haven't seen the movie + didn't know anything about the story but really enjoyed this fantasy series so far! i think there is one more book to listen to!

link

we followed suit with more fantasy adventures, listening to the disc world series by terry pratchett.

1. the colour of magic

2. the light fantastic

3. equal rites

4. mor

5. sourcery

6. wyrd sisters

7. pyramids

8. guards! guards!

9. eric

10. moving pictures

11. reaper man

12. witches abroad

13. small gods

14. lords and ladies

15. men at arms

16. soul music

17. interesting times {currently listening to}

{next on the listening list:}

18. maskerade

19. feet of clay

20. hogfather

21. jingo

i've really been enjoying this series! i was first introduced to this magical land of hilarious adventure, when tommy + i were making engagement party invitations + making 35 metres of bunting! i highly recommend this series + the movies are AMAZING!

in between these amazing series, we started listening to a million miles in a thousand years by donald miller. i've read this one, i enjoy all of donald millers books! he has a great style of writing, like he's your friend sharing about his life's adventures!

link

the actual reading i have done are parts of:

1. the bible

2. searching for God knows what by donald miller

3. 31 girl by mary simpson

4. a women's devotional book

it's been lovely to listen + do, instead of watch. i would still like to get some actual reading done though! i'm even part of a book club, i haven't started reading the book... persuasion by jane austin. don't tell them, shhhh.

if you'd like to start listening to audiobooks, you should check out audible!

HAPPY LISTENING/READING!

{i LOVE...}

{quilts}

hello lovely friendlikins!

how are we all? hope your'e fine + dandy! have your days been full of crafty shenanigans? i know mine are! i'm working on the quilt for tommy + i {as you may know if you follow me on instagram}. i'm teaching tommy how to sew {we're making him a hoody covered in ducks!}. i've also started a spontaneous, make it up as i go along cross-stitch design which i think will eventually be on our wall!

i always seem to hear: 'oh wow, what are you making?!', 'yeah, i like to craft - well i used to, i just don't have time now'...

the thing is - we all have the same amount of time. it all comes down to how we choose to use it! if you want to get your wool + knitting needles out - pencil in time to do it! if you want to learn a new skill, make a plan, follow the steps + wallah - you've learnt something new!

for a very long time, i had been wanting to learn how to quilt. i didn't know anyone who did so, so i stuck with crochet + knit + all my other crafty shenanigans! but a couple of years ago, when i met my soon to be mother-in-law becky {aka nonna}, who is the quilting queen - i knew i would finally learn how to quilt.

i bought a whole pile of lovely fabric, had mini lessons from nonna + had a vast resource of quilting books to learn from too! there's something really special about learning skills from our loved ones. passing down knowledge from one generation to the next. i'm looking forward to passing what i've learnt on to friends, and one day our children.

ahh, quilting. as you can see,  i LOVE it! so many pretty colours + patterns + designs + fun times! i've been hand sewing the quilt, so it's taking a while... but i knew it would + i enjoy the slow nature of it. i also like being able to take the section i'm working on wherever i'm going, instead of being glued to the sewing machine.

how pretty are the quilts above?! so lovely + special + something to be passed down for generations.

well, friendlikins, i hope you feel inspired to learn something new, to make the most of the time the LORD has given us + to take things a bit slower.

{52 things before 25}

{roller derby inspiration}

hello lovely friendlikins!

so we appear to be approaching the end of september. where did it go?! with only 2 1/2 months til my 25th birthday, i really need to get a move on with achieving my 52 things before 25 goals! you can see how well or not i'm doing over here. one of my goals is to go to a roller derby! i think it would be quite an experience! have you been? know of any good places to check out some skating action? have YOU been skating of late? i'm thinking that a skate along the beach at manly would be quite nice. yes indeedy : ). fish 'n' chips would be nommed, some gelato too! mmm... but maybe not on such a windy day like today - how crazy is this weather?!

i haven't been roller skating since primary school, so it will be quite an amusing day me thinks! i wasn't very good at skating in the good ol days, let alone now... haha. i was good at roller blading - but that doesn't have quite the same retro feel as roller skating. oh! that reminds me, i saw a guy roller blading with ski poles + ski like skates, whilst i was on my bike ride this morning. just a guy in short-shorts, doing his thang. haha

now i'm feeling inspired to organise a roller derby adventure + do some skating myself! i just need to do one more thing. watch this movie, and i'll be set!

wishing you many days of old school fun times!

hello lovely friendlikins!

HAPPY THURSDAY! how are you this fine day? hope your'e ready to soak up the sunshine today - cause there's going to be plenty of it! i thought today i would share something that i've been really loving lately/have always loved - embroidery! whether it's cross-stitch, tapestries, crewel stitch, vintage or abstract - they ALL tickle my fancy! do you like to stitch? what kind of stitchy goodness do you make? the other night, i was itching for some stitch'n. so i retrieved my woollen tapestry thread + i've started on a 'make it up as i go along' project, which shall feature on our walls {probably not for a long time, due to the time consuming nature of it}. i really love the process of making things. crafting something that didn't exist before now + each day watching it evolve + change. i really enjoy sitting + crafting, taking things slow. will you take things a little slower with me? get out your crafty projects, sit, relax, and feel restored for a new day!

hope you have a lovely day : )
i'm off for a bike ride in the park!

{tea party inspiration}

hello lovely friendlikins!

wow it's already september, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, flowers are blooming + there are babies everywhere! have you noticed that spring is in the air? spring + autumn are my favourite seasons. not too hot, not too cold + lots is happening in nature! whether it be leaves turning into fiery shades of awesome or flowers popping up all over the neighbourhood. i'm looking forward to picnics in the park, making + wearing lovely floral dresses + enjoying the sunshine + all that the LORD blesses us with. i'm looking forward to achieving more on my '52 things before 25' list + also noticing that there are only a few more months until december 9th... there's plenty more on my list to get done, so i've got to get my butt into action! also kinda freakin' out about turning 25... 25! thats half way to 50. a quarter century! whilst i come to terms with the whole age thing, i'll be planning my big *cough* 25th *cough* BIRTHDAY PARTY! i didn't have a 21st, so i thought a big 25th would be dandy fine : ).  since there should be plenty of sunshiney goodness i'm thinking it would be lovely to have a TEA PARTY, with an abundance of baked goodies, bunting, sun dresses + bow ties! a picnicky crafternoon full of fun times sounds dandy fine to me : ). hopefully i can figure out how to make some granny square cookies like the ones above - how cute are they?!

well, i've got plenty of things to do!
hope you have lovely, productive, joyful spring days too!

{celebrating one year}

happy snaps from brunch

hello friendlikins!

how are you this rainy rainy day? staying dry + toasty warm i hope! how've you been? long time no see! now that the weekend of parties have calmed down {more on that later}, i thought that i would finally share with you that it was tommy + my one year wedding anniversary on sunday! wooo! for those who live in sydney you will know that it was very much storming on sunday + so tommy's secret mission celebrations that he had planned needed to change. i've never had someone plan a day for me or plan a surprise! we did start part of the celebrations though; a photo scavenger hunt - with words of tommy's choosing that i needed to take a picture of, which also related to our relationship. i think i took a few but i'll share with you when i've completed the hunt. even though we didn't get to do all the celebrating tommy had planned - he's told me that it will happen! yay! i've been told that there is a picnic involved + some other things but no deets. so exciting! hehe

on sunday we did however get to spend the afternoon at my favourite book store kinokuniya! i do believe that it's the largest bookstore in the southern hemisphere. there are SO many books! tommy + i always go straight to the arty, crafty, design section where we peruse the books for inspiration + get excited about learning new skills.

here's a few pics from our day of love:

fun party light in the crafty section at kinokuniya
got to love a bookstore that yarn bombs their own shelves + table legs!

this book is full of awesome crafty projects - you'll want to make ALL of them! and not just for children.

find + keep is full of beci orpin's colourful style : )

you should really check this one out - full of more crafty adventures!

fun bookworm pattern i found : )

it was a rainy rainy day

awesome felt ball coasters

these cuties are from monster threads

more happy snaps - sorry about the blur factor!
we had a lovely day + i'm looking forward to sharing with you our other oneiversary adventures tre soon! i feel so blessed to be apart of tommy's life. we've had an amazing, crazy year of change + learning + love + are excited about living life for Jesus together!

{pom poms}

hello lovely friendlikins!

hope you've enjoyed a lovely wintery day + aren't suffering from the wintery sniffles like tommy + i are! being sick isn't so fun... but do you know what is FUN?! POM POMS! now i don't mean the cheerleader kind. i mean the wooly, fluff ball kind. they're so easy to make + have so many uses! i found a cute beanie the other day at the shops with a pom pom on top + i've decided i'm going to learn how to make beanies + adorn them with pom poms of course! do you like pom poms? how have you used them in your crafty, wooly, fun times life? growing up i had the usual pom pom beanie, but of late i made a whole bunch of fluffy goodness for tommy + my wedding! they are now in a glass dessert bowl lookin' pretty : )

if you feel like your'e catching the pom pom bug this winter, you should craft up a fluffy ball of your own! one can learn wooly goodness over here

and if you, like me are wanting to learn how to make your very own beanie - you can download the how to deets over here via this dandy video.

HAPPY POM POMMING FRIENDLIKINS!
