{lizzie's life lately}

{october edition}

you should look into Jesus {link}

hello lovely friendlikins!

oh me, oh my! it's nearly the end of october! hope your'e fine + dandy : ) there is so much that happens in life. it can be AMAZING + it can be very DARK, but in it all, even the mundane, God is there loving us with his unfailing love. he's GOOD like that!

here are my thoughts + the hippy hap {aka what's been happening}:

* christmas decorations are popping up in stores.

* i would really like to have a big 25th birthday party but not sure if that can happen with no moolahs...

* i'm wondering what to put on my birthday/CHRISTmas wishlist - even just for funzies!

* tommy hacked 3 inches off the ends of my hair!

* tommy shaved his beard - and i can't wait for it to grow back! {it's only the third time i've seen him beardless + it's all spikey!}

* we're nearly finished making tommy's duck hoody {only the cuffs to go!}

* i've been SUPER dehydrated for over a month now, i do believe...

* i've been doing better in the heat than i have in the past {i get all dizzy - i think i'm allergic to the sun!}

* there are bush fires left, right and centre.

* i'm guessing it's going to be a scorcher this summer!

* i'm so thankful to have aircon + a pool + a lovely cabin full of space, sunshine + fresh air!

* last saturday, with a couple of couples, tommy + i watched a dvd on marriage.

* i washed the couch covers yesterday

* i entered a few competitions to win a car - eeeep!

* i'm trying to make the most of the time the LORD has provided!

* i'm wondering if i'm going to be able to achieve all the goals on the 52 things before 25 list.

* i reckon tomorrow will be a great day to get back on the bike.

* i'm looking forward to having morning tea with my mum tomorrow at my favourite cafe!

* i'm really excited for thief to start having gigs!

* i'm looking forward to hearing thief's ep!

* i've been enjoying lovely snuggly cuddles from moose

* i'd really like to organise our studio {but that requires money...}

* i've been working on new products for my etsy store biz milk + sugar story!

* i need to make a light box thing to take photos of my products

* we've been watching alias

* and listening to interesting times by terry pratchett

* i ate cake for breakfast!

what have you lovely friendlikins been up to? what have you been thinking about of late? are you getting organised for CHRISTmas already? i've been thinking about how i probably should be, as i will have many many handmade gifts to make! speaking of which, you should check out my etsy store + pick up some pressies for your friends + fam : ) that would be dandy!

wishing you a JOYFUL OCTOBER!

{52 things before 25}

{tea party inspiration}

hello lovely friendlikins!

wow it's already september, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, flowers are blooming + there are babies everywhere! have you noticed that spring is in the air? spring + autumn are my favourite seasons. not too hot, not too cold + lots is happening in nature! whether it be leaves turning into fiery shades of awesome or flowers popping up all over the neighbourhood. i'm looking forward to picnics in the park, making + wearing lovely floral dresses + enjoying the sunshine + all that the LORD blesses us with. i'm looking forward to achieving more on my '52 things before 25' list + also noticing that there are only a few more months until december 9th... there's plenty more on my list to get done, so i've got to get my butt into action! also kinda freakin' out about turning 25... 25! thats half way to 50. a quarter century! whilst i come to terms with the whole age thing, i'll be planning my big *cough* 25th *cough* BIRTHDAY PARTY! i didn't have a 21st, so i thought a big 25th would be dandy fine : ).  since there should be plenty of sunshiney goodness i'm thinking it would be lovely to have a TEA PARTY, with an abundance of baked goodies, bunting, sun dresses + bow ties! a picnicky crafternoon full of fun times sounds dandy fine to me : ). hopefully i can figure out how to make some granny square cookies like the ones above - how cute are they?!

well, i've got plenty of things to do!
hope you have lovely, productive, joyful spring days too!

The Great Story Teller

Welcome friendlikins,

How are we all? Hope you’re fine and dandy : D.

So pretty much God is AMAZING and I just wanted to share with y’all how God has been working in my life over the last couple of weeks.

It all started when my doctor said, “if you don’t move out now, you’ll still be stuck at home sick and unable to work and study in 5 yrs time!” I then had the task of asking people who know me well, why I should move out and what would change if I did? This was a helpful process as it made me see the reality of my situation and that things had to change to break the cycle of - being stuck at home due to being sick and unable to work and study due to being sick and all because I’m stuck at home in an unhealthy environment. Talking to a few people about this helped me to see that people understood my situation and were willing to help me out and helped me to make things more concrete in my mind, so that I could have the confidence to make the changes – as difficult as they may be.

So here I am on the other side of the uncertainty and trusting God with my future, remembering that he knows and does what’s best for me and his glory. I find myself now in the home of a generous brother and sister in Christ who just want me to get healthy. God has been soo good – even in just the first week my health has improved significantly, I’m full of joy and energy, I’m working a few days a week as a nanny, I’m more committed to God in prayer and bible reading, and God blessed me and my brothers and sisters at EC with an AWESOME wkend away in the loveliness of Springwood – full of faithful and life changing preaching, conversations that build up, tasty food and good ol bonding time (which may have involved 3 hours of jungle speed…), bush walk, swim, feeding chickens, a crazy game of tennis, trampoline fun times and even a tad bit of limbo.

God is a great story teller – and I want to share with you the story he is writing me into. So I shall be sharing what God is teaching me through his word and other great books and how God is working in my life, writing his unique story.

dug down deep

Just last night, OK… in the wee hours of the morning, I finally finished Dug Down Deep by Joshua Harris – which makes it the first book that I’ve finished reading this year and the first of 12 in the book challenge. I shall share with you shortly the things which I have been learning, changing my perspective on, excited by, and just how darn AWESOME God is!

Until next time friendlikins!
love love Liz xo

P.S. Any ladies out there had a random food craving when not pregnant? I had one last night – carrot, cinnamon and sultanas… What do you think it means? Do you think you can interpret food cravings like dreams? Weird… I don’t even like sulatanas! I’m guessing this all came about due to the heart palps that were self-inflicted due to cocoa saturated chocolate cake… it was tasty… but kept me up til atleast 1am. You know, either that or the Holy Spirit has done on a Mary on me without giving me the low down…

Wedding adventures in the land of mystical round-a-bouts

One lovely Saturday morning Josie and I drove down to the land of round-a-bouts AKA Canberra for Kathy and Jeremy’s wedding – but this was no ordinary weekend of marriage delights... oh no this one packs a punch (pun intended – which you’ll get later on : P). All was well and good as we road tripped it down to the capital, listening to Josie’s selection of CD’s which included MXPX, some lady with a really high voice which was painful to listen to, some music which was enjoyable (which I now can’t remember – but I’m just glad she didn’t subject me to the High School Musical soundtrack – more on this with my beach mission post). When we had driven about half way – so about 1 ½ hours it started to absolutely bucket down to the point where we couldn’t see a thing and opted for stopping on the side of the road! It sounded magical, but not so safe for the whole driving thing.

We arrived just in time (without getting lost once!) to do last minute card writings and pre-church chats – all amazingly without getting wet! The processional music was very Kathy – instrumental to the core and the service was lovely with a few hymns sung and vows said, and sermon and hosting done by her very own clergymen brother, Josh.

 There was a lovely arvo tea of PUNCH, fruit and other nibblies. Josie and I had a joke about the punch, as we were drinking it all – it including something about being giants with huge twirly straws drinking all the punch : P I guess you had to be there... we thought it was hil-ar-ious! In fact we were laughing pretty much non-stop the whole weekend, it was GOLD : D.

On the way to the reception we came along this alien tower contraption : P

When Josie and I mysteriously found the reception and even had some free time for Tasmanian rainforest shenanigans – we jumped at the chance!

And there were major weather changes through out the day – which resulted in no rain for the reception which was perfect – particularly when Josie and my table was outside!

We had some lovely company on our table outside and even some lovely flowers too!

At the reception much food was eaten, many getting to know you convos with people you just met, lovely speeches (there were even some awww’s) and Kathy’s dad said a joke about Italian’s (as they are Italian). After all the fun and games Josie and I trotted off to the Dinale’s house (Kathy’s parentals) as we decided that this would be better than toughing it out in the possible storm in a tent! The Dinales’ were very hospitable and a huge blessing to sleep somewhere warm and safe – and actually sleep. The next morning greeted us with a very late breakfast, in fact it wasn’t even brunch when it’s 1pm – whatever it was the toasted sandwhich and mango smoothie was delscious!

On the way back to the car after our cafe adventures we passed the assembly point that we hoped to never use, and skipped our merry way back to the car : D (yes we really did skip! : P) It was a blessing and joy to know that God was in control of that weekend - seen in our lack of getting lost, and having such an AWESOME weekend!

Until next time friendlikins!
love love Liz xo
P.S. CHRISTmas, beach mission, sunsets, January fun times list and thoughts about weddings are still to come - so stay tuned!
