lizzie's life lately - adventures with tommy!

hello lovelies!

how are you my friendlikins? hope all is well. tommy + i have been really sick the last couple of days, tommy more so! i think it was the flu - he had the shivers + a high temperature, so we pumped him with all the water + pain killers + antibiotics - and is doing much better now! it's been a bit strange not being able to do anything the last couple of days, as we had such a lovely full week, packed full of adventures!

here's a peek into our week:

{sunday}

roadtrip outfit

was a lovely afternoon spent celebrating emma's bridal shower, nomming on delish treats + catching up with friends + playing bridal shower games! this was followed by a solo roadtrip up the coast for a sleepover with josie. it was a bit of a tense drive, as i only had a bit less than half a tank of petrol + only $8 to fill up if i ran out! josie + i spent the night catching up + meeting her lovely new house mates + watching monumental men - it's pretty good!

{monday}

beach adventures with josie!

we slept in, had breakfast + then walked down to the beach - where we got pummelled by the waves + burnt our feet on the hot hot sand. BUT this was all part of the fun of spending the day in the sunshine with my friend jo. if driving up the coast was a bit tense then driving home was all that much worse! i couldn't use the air con, although it was quite hot still even in the evening. i just had to go slowly up the hills + roll down them! BUT i got home just on empty - thank you jesus!

{tuesday}

adventures with tommy!

i was up early to pick up tommy from the airport, as he had returned from his NYC adventures with thief! i miss him when he's gone, and it's so lovely to have him home again. we decided to make the most of the day + so walked to macquarie centre which is about 4.5 kms away. it was so lovely to just dawdle our way through the lovely tree filled path, looking out for the bearded dragon lizards sun bathing + then scampering into the bushes when we came too close! we took some photos + ate some lunch. we checked out the new fancy parts of the shopping centre + i got to hear all about tommy's NYC adventures!

fun display at mc centre

{wednesday}

we were up early {well early for us! - which is a miracle, as we have both been struggling to get up before midday...} i think it was about 9am. we thought, 'let's carpe diem the poop out of this day too!' so we rode our bikes to maddy's {tom's sister} to share adventure stories from NYC, and entertain marky + jojo {our nephew + neice}. we ate lunch + stayed for a while + then made our way back home, a lot slower this time. we stopped at the shops to refill our water bottles + eat some much needed icecream {the first time since we had had icecream at this store, since the night tommy proposed!} when we finally arrived home after our 37 kms bike ride, needless to say, we were POOPED!

{thursday}

water play with alex + zack {via - tom's instagram}

we awoke early {whaaaat?!} and made our way to tom's other sister's house {hannah}. the boys were driving her a bit nutty + so we came to the rescue! we all had a lovely day of keeping the boys entertained whilst some house work got down, some tidying of the craft room {for some much needed mummy craft time} + painting with water on the deck. we also enjoyed quite a hot walk to the shops, where we enjoyed some milkshakes + banana bread.

{friday}

we were up early again {crazy town!} + tommy taught a drum lesson + then we went on an adventure to check out a drum store + stumbled across a home brew store. it was a great discovery as tommy may be able to sell a vintage drum kit he no longer uses + a place to sell the drums that he makes! we also have a store that has a more comprehensive selection of home brew materials, for when tommy + his dad get back into making their own cider! we ate a delish lunch of fish'n'chips + then took tommy to his doctor's appointment - as he had a sore knee from all the walking he did in NYC - {27 500 steps in just one day!} this was followed by a surprise visit from maddy + the 3 munchkins, who stayed for dinner + watched thumberlina.

{saturday}

bubble bath time! {via - tom's instagram}

God was working miracles because we were up early again! we spent the day looking after jojo who is a bit older than 2. it was SUPER hot that day, so we ate icecream + played with the hose, splashing the ducks + each other. we watched some kids tv + played ipad in the cool of the air con. BUT the most fun we had was when tommy moved the outdoor bathtub into the shade under the deck, so that jojo + i could have a bubble bath with toys! good times. bubble baths are the best! by late afternoon it was time to get ready for beth's 21st! we arrived early to set up the bunting + mingled for a while but tommy hadn't been feeling well, and was fading quickly, so we left before any of the festivities had really started.

and so since saturday night {it's now monday night}, i've been caring for tommy in his sickly state - but he's doing a whole lot better now - thank you jesus!

so here's to more adventures, carpe diem-ing the day + being thankful for the good times!
i hope + pray that you have a joyful week!

{spring style}

hello lovely friendlikins!

spring has sprung + so has my desire to wear bright colours, cute polkadots, maxi skirts, florals + lace! are you excited for spring? yay for sunshine, flowers + fun times! i've done my wardrobe change over from winter/autumn to spring/summer + my wardrobe seems to be lacking in the clothes i can actually wear department. dangitty dang. i can feel a spring clean of my wardrobe coming! organising! oh, i am easily excited : P. tommy + i have pledged to not buy any new clothes for the next year - only secondhand + homemade allowed. i guess we've chosen to do this for a few reasons:

1. clothes are ridiculously expensive

2. we have no moolahs

3. why would you spend $50 on a shirt when you can get it for $2

4. i've always wanted to make my own clothes

5. tommy wants to learn how to sew

6. it's all part of our dream life plan of living more sustainably

7. it's creative + fun!

will you join us in our sustainable quest? to make clothes that actually suit your body shape + size? and create your own style + learn new skills in the process? sounds good to me! hope it tickles your fancy too : ) let me know!

wishing you lovely picnics in the park + twirly dresses to you this spring!

{roadtrip}

hello lovely friendlikins!

how are you this fine day? did you have a good weekend? i hope it was dandy fine, full of fun adventures! tommy + i roadtripped it up to nelson bay. we arrived on saturday afternoon + went for quite a long walk. we walked along nelson bay, little beach, shoal bay + zenith beach + back! it was so lovely feeling the warmth of the sun, the cool of the water + the crunch of sand under our feet. we had a quick dip in shoal bay, just floating around. we had fish 'n' chips for dindins, as you do. and then went for a walk along the marina, and had some yummy gelato. sunday we went to the markets, where i found a cute dress for my neice's b'day. followed by a cool swim at one mile beach.

we soaked in the beauty of God's creation:

linky goodness:

{beach}   {count every beautiful thing}   {roadtrip polaroid}   {lake}

Wedding adventures in the land of mystical round-a-bouts

One lovely Saturday morning Josie and I drove down to the land of round-a-bouts AKA Canberra for Kathy and Jeremy’s wedding – but this was no ordinary weekend of marriage delights... oh no this one packs a punch (pun intended – which you’ll get later on : P). All was well and good as we road tripped it down to the capital, listening to Josie’s selection of CD’s which included MXPX, some lady with a really high voice which was painful to listen to, some music which was enjoyable (which I now can’t remember – but I’m just glad she didn’t subject me to the High School Musical soundtrack – more on this with my beach mission post). When we had driven about half way – so about 1 ½ hours it started to absolutely bucket down to the point where we couldn’t see a thing and opted for stopping on the side of the road! It sounded magical, but not so safe for the whole driving thing.

We arrived just in time (without getting lost once!) to do last minute card writings and pre-church chats – all amazingly without getting wet! The processional music was very Kathy – instrumental to the core and the service was lovely with a few hymns sung and vows said, and sermon and hosting done by her very own clergymen brother, Josh.

 There was a lovely arvo tea of PUNCH, fruit and other nibblies. Josie and I had a joke about the punch, as we were drinking it all – it including something about being giants with huge twirly straws drinking all the punch : P I guess you had to be there... we thought it was hil-ar-ious! In fact we were laughing pretty much non-stop the whole weekend, it was GOLD : D.

On the way to the reception we came along this alien tower contraption : P

When Josie and I mysteriously found the reception and even had some free time for Tasmanian rainforest shenanigans – we jumped at the chance!

And there were major weather changes through out the day – which resulted in no rain for the reception which was perfect – particularly when Josie and my table was outside!

We had some lovely company on our table outside and even some lovely flowers too!

At the reception much food was eaten, many getting to know you convos with people you just met, lovely speeches (there were even some awww’s) and Kathy’s dad said a joke about Italian’s (as they are Italian). After all the fun and games Josie and I trotted off to the Dinale’s house (Kathy’s parentals) as we decided that this would be better than toughing it out in the possible storm in a tent! The Dinales’ were very hospitable and a huge blessing to sleep somewhere warm and safe – and actually sleep. The next morning greeted us with a very late breakfast, in fact it wasn’t even brunch when it’s 1pm – whatever it was the toasted sandwhich and mango smoothie was delscious!

On the way back to the car after our cafe adventures we passed the assembly point that we hoped to never use, and skipped our merry way back to the car : D (yes we really did skip! : P) It was a blessing and joy to know that God was in control of that weekend - seen in our lack of getting lost, and having such an AWESOME weekend!

Until next time friendlikins!
love love Liz xo
P.S. CHRISTmas, beach mission, sunsets, January fun times list and thoughts about weddings are still to come - so stay tuned!
