making the most of rainy days

hello lovely friendlikins!

how are you, this raining buckets-full-of-cats-and-dogs kind of day? did you see what i did there? haha it has been raining A LOT, these last few days, and i do believe that it will just continue to drizzle upon our noggins for the rest of the week. i actually enjoy the rain. i know it can be cold and wet and windy and make it tricky to get out of cars, and even tricky to get out of bed. BUT, there are so many good things about rain.

here is a list of reasons why i LOVE rain:

1. listening to the sound of rain pitter patter upon the rooftops, car roofs and umbrellas.

2. sometimes with rain, you get thunder and lightning! i love storms.

3. it's socially acceptable to wear gumboots - which are also great for splashing in puddles!

4. snuggling under the doona with a hot chai {or hot chocolate} and reading a book.

5. all the plants look so fresh and green when it's raining - and the rain is so good for the farmers!

i'm excited for a new year + new crafty DIY projects to work on! does making things tickle your fancy too? i'm keen beans to try out the lovely projects above : ) they're crafty things that i've been wanting to make for some time now + i think great projects for those of us who want to spend ZERO dollars.

how are you this fine + dandy day? hope your'e well + staying cool in the sunshiney skies! do you like a gander in kikki.k. and feel like your'e actually a kid again in the lolly aisle? does stationery make you excited about getting organised? wow, me too, we must be twins! fancy that : P i must confide that stationery has tickled my fancy for quite some time now - since primary school, possibly earlier that! did you used to collect those tiny little shaped erasers? the ones you would get from the little korean + japanese stores! you know the ones, yeah? oh stationery... fun for all ages! i think my LOVE for stationery is born of my LOVE for colours + LOVE for making lists.

how pretty are the objects of lovely stationery goodness above?! these have been catching my eye for some time now, and i thought i would share them with my other lovelies - YOU! : )

1. {coloured pencils} - these pretties have fun summer time adventures written on them, like road trips + drive-in movies!

2. {flower carved pencil} - someone really clever made this floral beauty. can't you just imagine seeing that lovely rose in your pencil holder?

3. {coloured tacks} - the cuties are a diy - crafternoon anyone?!

4. {paint roller sticky notes} - how AWESOME is this?!? i like it very much. yes i do! how about you?

5. {pink cord} - no more yucky grey cords taking over your life. with this bad boy, you want it running all over the floor! no need for wireless when you have this pretty!

6. {deer wax stamp seal} - WOW... i think if everyone had one of these, email would be a thing of the past! i would be writing letters all over the shop!

7. {365 notebook} - the infamous kikki k. notebook - an oldy but a goody! so many options! have you worked on a 365 project? do share, that would be dandy : )

how are you? how are you REALLY doing? are you well? are you stressed? sick? over-the-moon?! today i am feeling pretty meh... i have a cold, i'm still SUPER dehydrated + other unpleasant lady times. how do you deal with meh times? do you get all cranky + whingey + sad? or do you pretend your'e not feeling meh + pretend your'e super woman instead?! i must admit there are times that i have been both, sometimes all on the same day!

this is how i'm tackling meh times today:

* i started the morning reading God's word + in prayer {asking for healing + strength + perspective}

* listening to this song over + over again {it makes me happy!}

* i had a nap + snuggle with the kitties

* drinking yummy milo

* staying in my pj's

* showering {feeling all clean + fresh + lovely}

* i'll do some crocheting

* drink LOTS of water!

* get some non-taxing things done on my to do list

* making my birthday/CHRISTmas wish list {i seem to have a thing for vintage teal things!}


the plan is basically to rest + do nice things + be productive but most of all to find my strength in Jesus, and do all things for His glory! what or who do you find your strength in? does it get you through tough days + meh times? Jesus has gotten me through the worst of worst times! He's GOOD like that : )

have you thought about what you'd like for CHRISTmas? or is it too far away? or are we wish list twins? did you know that there are 65 days til the end of the year? CRAY!

hello lovely friendlikins!

how are we all? hope your'e fine + dandy! have your days been full of crafty shenanigans? i know mine are! i'm working on the quilt for tommy + i {as you may know if you follow me on instagram}. i'm teaching tommy how to sew {we're making him a hoody covered in ducks!}. i've also started a spontaneous, make it up as i go along cross-stitch design which i think will eventually be on our wall!

i always seem to hear: 'oh wow, what are you making?!', 'yeah, i like to craft - well i used to, i just don't have time now'...

the thing is - we all have the same amount of time. it all comes down to how we choose to use it! if you want to get your wool + knitting needles out - pencil in time to do it! if you want to learn a new skill, make a plan, follow the steps + wallah - you've learnt something new!

for a very long time, i had been wanting to learn how to quilt. i didn't know anyone who did so, so i stuck with crochet + knit + all my other crafty shenanigans! but a couple of years ago, when i met my soon to be mother-in-law becky {aka nonna}, who is the quilting queen - i knew i would finally learn how to quilt.

i bought a whole pile of lovely fabric, had mini lessons from nonna + had a vast resource of quilting books to learn from too! there's something really special about learning skills from our loved ones. passing down knowledge from one generation to the next. i'm looking forward to passing what i've learnt on to friends, and one day our children.

ahh, quilting. as you can see,  i LOVE it! so many pretty colours + patterns + designs + fun times! i've been hand sewing the quilt, so it's taking a while... but i knew it would + i enjoy the slow nature of it. i also like being able to take the section i'm working on wherever i'm going, instead of being glued to the sewing machine.

how pretty are the quilts above?! so lovely + special + something to be passed down for generations.

well, friendlikins, i hope you feel inspired to learn something new, to make the most of the time the LORD has given us + to take things a bit slower.

hope you've enjoyed a lovely wintery day + aren't suffering from the wintery sniffles like tommy + i are! being sick isn't so fun... but do you know what is FUN?! POM POMS! now i don't mean the cheerleader kind. i mean the wooly, fluff ball kind. they're so easy to make + have so many uses! i found a cute beanie the other day at the shops with a pom pom on top + i've decided i'm going to learn how to make beanies + adorn them with pom poms of course! do you like pom poms? how have you used them in your crafty, wooly, fun times life? growing up i had the usual pom pom beanie, but of late i made a whole bunch of fluffy goodness for tommy + my wedding! they are now in a glass dessert bowl lookin' pretty : )

if you feel like your'e catching the pom pom bug this winter, you should craft up a fluffy ball of your own! one can learn wooly goodness over here

how are you this fine autumn day? hope your'e staying toasty warm in the chilly wind! how lovely are clouds?! i'd have to say they are one of my favourite things! i'm always looking up at the sky + watching the weather change + looking out for lovely colours + shapes + sun flares {glory from heaven}. do you like to cloud watch too? one of my goals for {52 things before 25} was to look for shapes in the clouds - and on one afternoon i saw one that looked like a bunny rabbit + another one that looked like a claymation version of my hubby tom. fun times! maybe you could add that to your goals for this year. it's so lovely to take time to enjoy the beauty in this world + there is so much beauty! #Godisthebestartist

happy monday! how are you this fine day? did you have a weekend full of fun times? saturday was spent eating homemade pizza, freshly baked muffins + playing with a whole lot of family at the park. sunday i was deliriously sick. i was making up songs + not making much sense in general. being sick sucks, BUT crochet is awesome! {did you like my segway? discreet right?} just looking at the pics above puts a smile on my face : ). do you crochet? or would you like to learn? i totes think you should! i think it's much easier to pick up than knitting + easier to manage any mistakes + just a whole lot of colourful, woolly, creative, snuggly, relaxing, good times!

in fact, i think i'll do some crocheting right now. will you join me?

how are you this fine day? hope you're enjoying the lovely sunshine : ) go on any adventures on the weekend?

tommy + i were planning on going to nelson bay for the weekend {my parents have a little apartment up there with lovely views of the ocean} which would have been perfect beach weather. but due to unknown plans + not wanting to look for a friend to look after bumble + moose {our kitties}last minute, it just wasn't possible. BUT we will be planning in advance next time.

do you like to plan things? or do you like to be spontaneous? i like a bit of both.

since i've got plenty of time to relax at home at the mo, i thought i would share my favourite colour - teal!
